June/July

Since I haven't posted something in a long time, I thought I would do a list of things from June and July so that I can cover everything that has been going on. I am so glad that it is August now...a little closer to Fall. Yeah!

1. Everett had his first hair cut! It was an interesting experience. He is very easy going generally, and I didn't even think he would notice or care that his hair was being cut. I was wrong. He did not like it!

2. We were able to hang out with our friend Franz a lot in June, before he left us to move to New Zealand. We miss him!

3. We went to our friend Amy's wedding at the end of June. It was a beautiful wedding and I always love seeing people get married that are absolutely perfect for each other. I cry every time! I don't know why I am a wedding crier...I feel like it's this mutant part of my personality that doesn't quite fit with the rest. Haha!

4. We were able to see so many college friends that we hadn't seen for years at Amy's wedding. It was a mini reunion and it was so, so fun! I especially loved getting to see my Ash!

5. Spending time with friends and family is always my favorite part of going to California!

6. Everett turned 1 on July 5! He had a lot of fun at his birthday parties, and he is a big fan of cake.

7. Everett took his first steps the day before his birthday! It is now a month later and he is walking all over the place. He is very proud of himself too. I have a video I will put up later this week.

8. On July 6 I started preschool with Kate. We turned our loft into her school room, and everyday we do about 30 minutes to an hour. Some days it is hard to fit in with her swimming lessons and play group, but I always try to at least do math, phonics, and storytime. She is doing really well and we are having a lot of fun!

9. About a month ago Brian's good friend, Matt, was in town for Volleyball Festival. I love this picture, because it is not too often that Brian looks short. Ha! Now he knows how the rest of us feel. ;)

Scary

Brian: That is a giant BMW dealership.

Kate: Giants! I'm scared of giants...and dinosaurs.

It's amazing how she only seems to hear what she wants to hear.

3 1/2...almost 4

Kate is now officially 3 1/2. She has been saying she is almost 4 since probably around February, and already is planning for her next birthday party. Every so often she reminds me who she wants to invite, and that she needs balloons! She is really growing up, and becoming such a little kid. She definitely knows what she likes, which is princesses, watching her shows (Curious George, Clifford), drawing and coloring, and her friends. She has been difficult lately (that 3 year old attitude, I guess), but she is so sweet most of the time and says things that just kill me. She is an amazing little girl, and I feel so lucky that I get to hang out with her everyday!

Cousins

Kate loves her cousins! She is always talking about them, and saying how much she misses them. Last weekend her cousin Austin came to visit her, along with Uncle B and Auntie Tamara. We went to Schnepf Farms to pick peaches one day, went out to eat a lot, and went to a Diamondbacks game. Here are some pictures from the weekend...

10 Months!

Everett is 10 months old today! It has gone by so fast. He is doing so many new things this month...he now crawls everywhere, pulls himself up on everything and walks along the furniture. He loves exploring the house, and following his sister and Kansas around. He started eating solid foods this month too. He loves meat! And cheerios. He is a very happy little guy and I feel very, very blessed to have him in my life.

Skating Shoes

On Thursday we told Kate that she was going to go ice skating with her cousin Stephanie. All day she was very excited about her skating shoes. She loves all types of shoes already! She was a little freaked out at first, but after taking a break she wanted back out on the ice. After about 40 minutes, she just wanted to lay down on the ice and make "snow angels". Brian had to finally drag her out. I have a feeling we may be spending more time at the ice rink, which is ok with me. It's nice and cold in there!

Happy May Day!

The other day I uploaded the pictures from our "big" camera. I don't use it as much as I would like, because I'm still learning how and it is really big. Here are a few of my favorite pictures that Brian and I took over the last couple of months.

Baseball: Week 1

I'm a little late with this, since it's almost the end of the 2nd week of baseball season. Oh well!
Game 1: We went to the Diamondbacks opening game, and it was one of the best games I've ever been to. The Diamondbacks hit 5 home runs and the Rockies hit 3. It was a pretty exciting game, and the Diamondbacks even managed to win.

The view from our seats on the Home Run Porch.

Everett loves baseball already!

The best way to watch baseball? While eating some nachos!

Everett loves Nana's visor.

Game 2: On Friday we went to the first game of the Dodgers series. Sadly, the Dodgers lost, but it was still fun! At least I wasn't completely alone in my sadness; Everett is a Dodgers fan too!

Game 3: On Sunday, we went to the third game of the Dodgers series, and it went much better. The Dodgers won! By this time I had eaten way too many nachos, cheeseburgers, and peanuts for one week. Maybe it would be good to take a few days off!

Kate standing in line to meet Baxter.

Kate getting Baxter's signature. Very exciting!

She's getting so big!

This is from May of last year.

My mother and father-in-law were nice enough to let me come to the game even though I dressed Kate and Everett in Dodger blue!

Kate with her Aunt Amy and (soon to be Uncle) Ben!

The rally caps didn't work. Ha!

Sorry Brandon Webb! He likes to chew on anything and everything.

Eyebrows

Yesterday Kate was in the bathroom standing in front of the mirror with a very strange and concerned look on her face, so I asked her what was wrong...

Kate: My eyebrows are brown.

Me: So...

Kate: I don't want them to be brown.

Me: What color do you want them to be.

Kate: Pink!

Me: I don't think so.

The Best Winery in Napa Valley!

A few weekends ago we were fortunate enough to be able to stay at the Salvestrin vineyard in St. Helena, Ca. It is a beautiful place, and I can't wait to go back. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the winery...
